Midlake – Young Bride Lyrics 4 months ago
Ok, I like good grammer too, but context is important as well. This song, and album for that matter, are centered in another, simpler time, when proper grammer was not prioritized, or accessible, or necessary, and marriages were most likely for convenience or necessity. Remember "marriaged" in another song on this album, not a word. The artist's Midlake (Tim Smith) that penned this poetry was not in the least interested in our 21st century approval of the narrator/character's abilities or decisions to use proper or improper grammer. The lack of proper is an important hue of the big picture actually. Yet another beautiful song with open interpretations that all seem to find the same point in the end, hopelessly trapped by unchangeable circumstances, and longing for that change without end. Come on Tim, "head home" and jump back into Midlake. I miss that level of artistry, so great.
