I've always interpreted this song as ironic, constantly reassuring Rebecca they can be casual / wont get attached while miserably failing at doing so. It ends with "No, I don't want to fall in love with you," and needing to move on, possibly from a previous relationship, but the opening starts with openly admitting attachment and then saying it wont be an issue. The being hit by a bus metaphor also really doesnt seem to fit with someone telling a girl they just want to hook up to move on, its admitting a problem / pattern. |
