@[yllit:54210] you are quite right. It’s really powerful when you watch the gig recorded on YouTube at the Paradiso. Listen In the dark. But I can’t believe somebody mistook them for coldplay! I’ll have to go listen to old Coldplay and compare it to old elbow lol. Too bad jupp left imo. Still they are a great band live even today in 2025. |

@[straydog89:54208] interestingly enough in one gig Guy Garvey, instead of saying corpse says “duck” because it is dedicated to somebody in the audience who is pregnant. Elbow is now still playing of course, still creating songs but this is the best live song ever imo - on YouTube at the Paradiso in Amsterdam. Check it out. |

To me this brings to mind in 2025 the corruption of the US pharmaceutical industry. So many drugs, problems for depression and anxiety that do not work. Or do not work alone. Clinical studies being funded, partly by the drug companies themselves.This is my interpretation in 2025 and it is probably not the intended meaning of the song, but my interpretation. I love how Art speaks to everyone differently in different times. |
