@[Tr4cy21:53964] Precisely. Rick was a romantic at heart and he was always yearning for some elusive warmth and love he could never quite grasp in his hands. (Hence his lifetime of chasing after it with women and drinking and drugs and his loss of focus on musical output towards the end of the 1970s.) One night stands hurt everyone but they generally hurt men's hearts much more than women's — a taboo truth which cannot be uttered by a man without baring his heart completely in the process, what with the pain and fear of making yourself as vulnerable as it gets. One night stands are a temporary salve that ultimately leaves you feeling more alone than ever. That's what this song is about. Anyone who has had a similar one-night stand understands this. Simple, really. |
