This song, while supposed to be commenting on the end of the cold war, was actually several decades ahead of its time. The "awakening from history" that is certainly occurring now (and since March 2020) IS the broad scale awakening, even though a large majority continues to follow the piper all the way to the abattoir. In spite of this misfortune, the end is still certain as the planet moves to imminent & eternal Light & Life. Another song reflecting a decades prior foretelling of this time from another Jones (Howard) in his superb account "No One is to Blame". |

This song is/was a pre-emptive foretelling of what collective consciousness is now interpreting as "life in a false world". All the unfulfilled realities experienced in the song are metaphorically and literally identifying life on planet falsehood. In order to back up this interpretation, I suggest looking into, for example, these books: Ubuntu - Contributionism; The Creature from Jekyll Island; Farming Huymans.
