Marilyn Manson – Deep Six Lyrics 7 months ago
@[RocknRo:53779] Nice example of what @[Morphelia:53780] was talking about i.e. flipping the script on someone saying something thoughtful and well discerned and somehow twisting that into a fault or weakness.
lol I guess...

Lemme see if I got this 'correct' (a fav Narc word, in my experience):
So, all those other words in the song don't mean anything other than merely avoiding the word "the"?

It's all just word salad at that point, then?

Dangit man, I feel your frustration!

Seems like a perfect but missed opportunity for MM to use his platform (a song from a popular Artist) to give voice to underserved and under-represented ideas, concepts or narratives and all that other jazz that has previously helped him connect on a deeply personal basis with thousands to likely millions of people cross-generations...

OH WELL.

Better Than Ezra – Still Life With Cooley Lyrics 7 months ago
@[N9inchnails9:53637] Gotta disagree, respectfully of course. There's a dark tone underneath this one and it all hinges on replacing the phrase "Now Daddy don't love her anymore" to "Daddy don't LIVE HERE, anymore."

it's not as shallow and accessible as it may first appear, due to it's whimsical, bouncy and yes somewhat "pop" sound - whatever that even means at this point...

Unless I'm mistaken, I believe the BTE singer is from Louisiana so his Southern US accent could be making this harder to decipher for many but, as an originating US Southener, I've always heard it as "Now Daddy don't live here anymore" and it surprised me this site has it "love her" lol

Where'd Daddy go, all of a sudden? and why is the daughter now out gallavanting around New Orleans partying, drinking with friends and generally living a more outwardly "rebellious" and visible social life?

"You said if it's over then we'll go in style." Did word get around there was some foul play over how Daddy left the scene?

whatever happened, that girl is "living like it's the last night on earth" to steal a lyric from U2

I always thought the song went "Now Daddy don't live here anymore" I'm listening to it right now. I'm also from what's considered the Southern US states so maybe it's just the singer's accent but I def hear "live"

as in, Daddy and Mommy broke up - the archetype that, typically, is associated with discipline in the household. So the daughter is left more to her own devices, staying out late, partying...

references to chilling, fooling around, hanging out, drinking and generally what's considered "rebellious" behavior by a, most likely, troubled young soul and friends attempting to make sense of a rough life where they're living it.

Chevelle – Rabbit Hole (Cowards, Pt. 1) Lyrics 8 months ago
"I heard a change has begun" really ear-wormed itself into my noggin after hearing it for the 2nd time, since yesterday. Yet again, another heavy-plodder-head-nodder anthem from this workhorse of a band. Mad props, enjoying the anticipation now for their upcoming album!

FWIW, I'd slam a "Dunkies" w Chevelle any day [as a long time fan, my claim to fame/clout is I was 2nd row during the filming of "Chevelle Live from the Norva"] and shoot the shit with those guys...

Maybe we wouldn't agree on every topic of discussion but that's alright. Their music and powerful messages past have been a safe haven of validation and catharsis for me and, surely, many others.

But, I would probably and in good humor, like to take a beat to argue the legitimate effectiveness of an actual "tin foil hat". Tin has it's uses, after all it used to be the primary cover in roofing, for example. There's a use case, here... that's all I'm saying!
