It's about the cycle of depression and antidepressants. There's a state of calm when depressed that accepts how crap and decaying everything is. But you also have to acknowledge that perspective is part of the illness and most people would say you when in those states you need to take your meds. The medication is a way for society to (in the broad sense) to stop you from criticising the very real problems that are making you depressed. The "on my knees" part feels like someone throwing themselves at the mercy of a bigger force or group. Both an external and internal exclamation, ending with "get up". Pulling yourself out of it but also admonishing yourself for feeling weak by showing emotion and helpessness. |
