| Death in June – To Drown A Rose Lyrics | 10 months ago |
|
My humble interpretation of this great DIJ title is that it is a song about an abusive, violent relationship which may have (or not) ended in death. Rose (the singer) is drowned, repeatedly. 'Will he hold my soul / Will he tear my heart / Will he rip me apart?' She is unsure about the outcome of their next encounter, either she hopes for a good ending, but implies that she knows deep down that harm is more likely than healing. Maybe she knows that she will get hurt. :( Maybe she is planning to get out of this viscous relationship by killing him? 'My hate is love to me A shot in the dark Perfumed and sweaty' This was the first song I had ever heard of DIJ, back in 1987. This one and the others (Europa/Zimmerit) from the mini LP were the start of a long lasting fanship for DIJ for me, and my entrypoint to the Current/DIJ/Coil/etc world. |
