Slipknot – Vermilion, Pt. 2 Lyrics 11 months ago
a lot of people seem to think this is an entirely separate song with a different storyline to vermilion, but me personally i think it’s a sequel to vermilion (hence the part 2). vermilion was more violent, more stalkerish about the girl. throughout the song he is convinced that she is his and he does whatever he wants with her. and at the end of vermilion, we find out he’d built up this image of this girl (who some think was actually dead) and realised he was making it up in his head and she wasn’t actually real. he coped by making it up and was erratic about keeping her all to himself.

in vermilion part 2, it’s a lot more slow and sad, with only acoustic. he is more regretful and solemn about not being able to have her, rather than angry and violent. “she’s a myth i have to believe in” - he’s forcing himself to believe that she is still here even though he knows it’s all a lie. “the song that no one sings” - she is forgotten but not to him. he still thinks she is here and that he still has her. “i won’t let this build up inside of me” is contradiction, he’s gone back to accepting that she is gone forever.
