Me and my mom have our own interpretation of this song. This song came out right when my dad was fighting overseas, they actually came and sang for the wives on base too, but we think it’s about PTSD, specifically of war heroes. “If I go crazy then will you still call me superman?” They know that it’s a possibility yet they still fight for us. When they say “if not for me then you’d be dead” they refer to the American people, saying if not for me then you wouldn’t be free. Then when they say “I watched the world float to the dark side of the moon,” they’re talking about all the horrors of war that they can’t forget. They know that their condition scares their friends and family members but they ask for them to stay by their side even when they’re going through an episode. They ask them to not take advantage of them and to love them when they’re happy too. I think I covered everything but that’s the gist of it 😅😅 |
