I always took the song to be from the vantage point of the Moon. It had long been lonely, no one had ever walked across it before, and all of a sudden, it has a new playmate..as Man takes his first steps across its surface. Of course just as quickly as he has arrived, Man soon leaves, leaving the Moon alone again, leaving it longing for a new playmate who understands it's loneliness. |
