I swear, I thought the lyrics; “Hot to trot, make any man's eyes pop..” actually go, “Hot to trot, my candy mans eyes pop! She uses what she's got to get whatever she don't got” Am I wrong? |

I first heard this song when I was dancing at the club in my early twenties. I LOVED it! I even went and asked the DJ who it was and I owned the CD by the next day, and by the end of the week, I had the lyrics down! I thought the meaning to the song was clear just by the lyrics, but it was confirmed when I finally saw the accompanying video! This is a classic “Role Reversal” song, placing the girls in the role of the oversexed protagonists and men in the role usually held by the women! The women are hooting & hollering at the men, sexualizing them in every way they can, from the way look to the way they walk. It goes on to the women picking apart certain “assets”. An example of this is, “you're packed and you're stacked 'specially in the back Brother, wanna thank your mother for a butt like that” , much like how women have been picked apart for their “assets” for years! I think Salt-n-Pepa wanted to make men think about how the hooting & hollering isn’t complimentary, isn’t wanted & it isn’t appreciated. Women are more than their outsides! |

| The meaning is clear as day in these lyrics! They remind you to “not judge a book by its cover”, everyone’s appearance is different, it’s what makes us human, we are all individuals and what’s on the outside, be it a “long haired freaky” type, but it’s what’s inside that counts. And didn’t Jesus have long hair? | |
