| This song could be about the process of how dairy products are made. The discharge (the milk from the cows itself) is lactated by cows. I was looking up the meaning of offal and it basically means the process of eating an animal's organs which could just be referencing the cows organs and the milk. The fermented part even further adds to it as when you make cheese such as swiss cheese, you purposely mix in bacteria that eats part of the cheese, creating air pockets in the form of holes, these bacteria enhance the taste and sometimes can make it better for your stomach to digest. Honestly I don't like cheese very much but I always just thoguth this is what this song was about | |

| I think this song is just about the Christians who think they will be saved just by praying and going to church. That is not what Christianity is, it’s about being a virtuous person, you really have to love him and thank him, not worship him. Even virtuous non Christian’s shall enter heaven. Saying a bunch of prayers and going to church doesn’t gaurentee you to heaven. God wants you to edplore the world, help out the people in need, and living a great life not just purely worshipping him and condemning others who aren’t Christian. Sadly some Christian’s are like this. Tom araya, Jeff hanneman , Kerry king are all confirmed Christians so this is what I would assume from this song. | |

Badass album opener for an insane face melting album. How tf am i the first person here??? Pioneers of freaking prog tech death metal the legends the goats GORGUTS???? F Yeah this is by far the album that really opened up my musical pathways with other stuff. The blend of technicality and dissonant chords and weird ahhh rythm changes blew my mind a few months ago and still does today. OBSCURAAAHHHH This album was so good the one of the most popular techdeath bands legit named themselves from this. Ok let me quickly analyize this masterpiece... This song starts of brashly with the main dissonant riff in the whatever weird time singature its in and is in your face. You take in time to consume these unhuman riffs and all of a sudden the roaring of Lemay goes straight into your face. "Clouded by the bliss obscura" this powerful line sets the tone as this song's theme from what i imagine while listening it, is a very spurratic and uncontrolled setting, where undefined things are going insane and it sets sort of this hellish setting except it really depicts it uniquely. The lyrics are full of latin words which sets an old, ancient vibe too. They are also full of contradictions to these craziness and insanity like (Filtrate, shapeless screen unfold Blackness, centre of whiteness). These words at face value dont make any sense but these contradictions add to the jarrring and confusing afect in this terrifying setting. Overall beauitiflly orchestrated song and probablymy fav song from the album... |

| This song is about burying your self pain. This is one of the most saddest and most depressing songs I have ever listened too and it makes sense now. He is comparing burying pain to burying himself in dirt. He probably wrote this when he was very angry at something. His sarcasm in the last verse shows how little he respects the thing who/what that is tormenting him. “One who shouldn’t care is one who shouldn’t be ” This is such a powerful statement omg. IMO this tells us about his abuse. I think that this is comparing his depression to a person that doesn’t care, that sucks all of his life from him. RIP Layne thank you for bringing awareness to mental health. | |

This is what I could decipher from analyzing the lyrics for awhile. (This is my first time doing this and this is only MY opinion not the real meaning of the song.) Metropolis is a song that tells us about the love in family. It is about a man who goes through stages of grief of the death of his wife. Metropolis is the man's wife who is pregnant and when she goes through childbirth she dies. We know she has a child because they describe her as having a gift when she returned home. She then gives birth and realizes that she is going to die. This is because he describes her as the sorrow and pain that she will never outgrow. Then she dies after giving birth Hence the first dance: Death. He doesn't know what to do, as he still is a young man and wasn't prepared for raising a child all by himself. We know he's young because he describes himself as asleep, which could mean that he hasn't had his full awakening aka his adulthood. (I'm asleep, yet I'm so afraid) As he realizes that no matter what, raising this child is his responsibility and he accepts it. (There is no more freedom) He then remembers his own parents and thinks of the love and cherishment they gave to him. So he becomes more confident and believes that he can love and raise his new child even though his wife died. (I was told there's a new love that is born for each one that has died.) He realizes that this baby is a miracle too given to him. There is no one to call on, he has no help and he is alone and afraid. He knows that he can't dream of his wife because she isn't there anymore and he knows he can't hold on to her any longer because that would be even more detrimental to his mental health. (I was told if you dream of the next world, you'll find yourself swimming in a lake of fire) Also he misses when he was a child when he didn't have large responsibilities. He misses being sweet and innocent and happy hence why he says that it's all caught up to him as he is raising a new child. The part where it talks about a bunch scenes from a memory. He is referring to his memories of his wife and how much he misses her. His wife made so many beautiful memories with them and now they are all gone because of her death. He then leads up to the conclusion that his wife ruined his life and deceived him by leaving him with such a large responsibility. Now because of this resentment, he brings it on the kid and tells him how bad his mom was. (The city's cold blood teaches us to survive) He calls her death cold blooded because she left him with no reason. He tells his kid that they will stay alive even though he resents his wife. Now in the instrumental part, he embarks on the journey of raising this said kid. And as they navigate hardships and peril of life. The journey ends with him realizing that he was wrong and he then accepts the fact that his wife died. As he inches closer to death, the song echoes the fact that he still loves his wife very much and is eager to meet her. He knows that she is proud and happy of their child and she smiles at him. When he dies, they are finally reunited and then the final dance is love. |
