My Dying Bride – The Return to the Beautiful Lyrics 1 year ago
I Believe that from start to finish. This epic song tells the narrative of the discourse between God and the Devil at the moment of the temptation of Eve in the Garden of Eden. The song highlights in several places the Boasting of Satan over this and how easily the Devil tricked Eve into commiting the Original Sin, I.e. the line 'she gave herself to me' suggest the boasting of Satan over his seduction of Eve into sin. It is followed by God's anger at the Devil for this. 'Away , bastard dog, Nunquam' he says immediately after. (Nunquam is Latin for never.) The narrative is split between the voices of God and The Devil throughout the peice. I don't think that this song should be viewed as anti-God nor is it Demonic in anyway. . In fact it tells a poignant tale of the fall of mankind into sin, the brokenness of God's creation thereafter, and tearful lament in the aftermath of the event.
