| The Chameleons – Nostalgia Lyrics | 1 year ago |
| My favorite Chameleons song. I think it's about two people discussing a common but painful memory (like a breakup) but each is remembering it in a different way. The singer (Mark) is hearing a version/perspective of the story in which he has blame and it is conflicting with his own personal narrative in which he was the victim. At the same time, he seems to be open to this new perspective and he finds the discussion to be cathartic. The finale "Tomorrow, I'll remember yesterday" means that this new chapter to the story will stick with him. It's a simple song but invokes so much: lost love/friendship, humility, regret, and the pain that nostalgia not truth but is tainted by our own perspectives and desires: "nostalgia will lead me away". | |
