To me, change by deftones means watching someone you had a previous relationship with (if that be a romantic or a friendship) live without you in their life, or just observing how they change. I agree with others meanings on here too, and I can see where you all come from, for context, this meaning is slightly bias as I try to relate it to my own life, I had this one girl I was friends with (I had a “crush” on her at the time) and we were friends for a while before she stopped being friends with me, from there I had just seen how she changed, and how I realized I wasn't a part of her life anymore, especially when you liked that person, it can be harder to accept.
