God WAS one of us. He came to earth as Jesus Christ, His only Son. He was miraculously fully human to totally identify with us, and still fully God, a mystery even mankind's most intelligent minds cannot fathom. Yet, having the faith of a child to believe this is the key to each one's salvation. Jesus came to be the cure for our sin and He paid for our redemption by sacrificing His own life. Then He rose again to show God's power over death, to give us assurance of the eternal life He offers to each of us who repents from sin and believes on Him as Savior. He is eagerly awaiting our decision. |

I really enjoyed and rocked out to the music of this song from the first time I ever heard it. After becoming a Christian and reading the Bible, I discovered the lyrics lined up with what I read in the book of James. This song seems to be based on James 3:2-12, which is an urgent instruction to keep our tongues under control and not hurt others with our words. It compares the power of words with fire, a horse's bridle, a rudder, poison, and bitter water. It explains that God's plan for us is to have a pure heart that produces refreshing words to encourage others. The Bible elsewhere mentions "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh". That means either good or bad...hopefully good. Read that Bible passage in James and check it out. Then read more, beginning with the book of John! |
