Them Crooked Vultures – Spinning in Daffodils Lyrics 1 year ago
The song is about lust and the addiction/moral struggle it can lead to.

The first part reflects a person who's feeling blue "Out in the rain" and then freed himself from the thought of (religiously) restricting one's own behaviour.

Now the question is what will you do when you're free? "To play God in the garden" refers to the story of Adam and Eve. Will determining what's good and bad yourself be harmful or not, "is it safe".

The holes refer figuratively to the void within that needs filling up and quite literally to the female reproductive parts. You could fill the void with sex "Positions available" but it's suggested this leads to getting wrapped up in sex addiction "Yet some are quite hard to get out of or in".

I think "Spinning in the daffodils, Dizzy from a dozen twirls" could be interpreted as; doing whatever you want (narcissism) gives the illusion of being happy, but after a while it leads to confusion.

In the next part the person is feeling lonely and is tempting another person (who's still restricted by their thoughts and being "afraid") to have sex (go for a ride). The person is inviting the other to act like the devil (Sharpen your teeth my darlings). He's saying "Get em boy" like he's asking the devil to tempt them (which is not in the lyrics) and he's hornily groaning after that.

Now the person realises this filling the void with sex, sinning, is a vicious cycle "Like a canine that chases a bone, That's tied to his tail" and wishes he was more pure like God "beautiful balloon" or Jesus "rise up and fade out of view". The adjective "Graceful" is mentioned a lot in the bible. But seems unable to "What have you turned me into?"

"What have you gone and done my love?" refers to the sexual act and
"Incinerated in the morning sun" refers to the couple now going to hell.

"I am so high, I just may never come down" might refer to being so high off sex and acting in a narcissistic manner that the person may just never decide to actually change their ways.
