In Flames – I Am Above Lyrics 1 year ago
I think this song is about him debating the existence of God. I personally am an atheist, for most of the reason's stated in the song. "Cut my throat and feed me to the wolves. I'm just to tired to reload" is just him saying that God has done all these things to him when he was promised whatever he wanted (ask and it shall be given). "I'll be the ghost that haunts you in your sleep" pretty much means that he will always be asking God for this one thing he wants, day and night, making God feel guilty for not giving him what he wants. "You have anchored the hate in me" pretty much just means that after God has not given him what he wanted time after time, he has gotten fed up and now hates God. "Don't need your tears, I don't need your love, don't need your sympathy I am above" Is him saying, "I don't want you to feel bad for me/cry for me/love me, I'm above that. What I really want is for you to give me what I have been asking for." The chorus, "my God, I don't need you, I wont wait for you to come around" is his way of saying that he doesn't need God anyways, and he won't just keep praying and waiting for God to start caring. He doesn't want to wait for God. "my God, as the pain inflates, I know I plead/bleed, I plead/bleed for you" means that he knows he bleeds and sacrafices so much for God, and when he pleads for God to help him, God just gives him the cold shoulder. "We will never be, you are a ghost to me" basically means that he will never have a relationship with God, because God hasn't done anything to even show he even exists. The second verse is him in denial, "maybe it takes time to sink in", "did you not hear me loud and clear". he is in denial about weather or not God exists. He is trying to convince himself that it just takes time for god to answer. in the end, he just goes back to the angry-at-God chorus, and God doesn't reply.
