Necrophagist – Epitaph Lyrics 1 year ago
Epitaph, like every other song on the album, is about death. This song in particular talks about suicide, and using a wide range of metaphors to convey the message.

Leaves fall in the autumn of lives (Autumn being used as a metaphor to portray a time of change, leaves falling means these lives are in the process of changing, physically or mentally.)
That appear to be worthless to some utmost ignorant (lives are worthless to those unable to see their beauty)
Expectations shift in the eye of the beholder (The "beholder" of life is changing their mind on it, thinking of death and not of life.)

Tears drop from the eye of lives paled as jealousy fools a mind distorted, pretty self explanatory, jealousy is twisting the mind of this subject into an apparent suicide.

One wishes existence to be of fulfillment, but leaves bend to the will
of winds blowing: This is a beautiful metaphor that basically means that somebody suicidal wishes their life to be fulfilling, but, comparing them to leaves, they are unable to move-or in this case-live life in their own way and rather "bend to the will" of whatever negative effect has a grasp on their life.

Claim to foresee the end of a soul, premature epitaph. This is once again pretty straightforward, it's just talking about how suicidal people can see the "premature" end of their lives before they take it.

A beautifully written song about a morbid topic, like every song on Epitaph. Release the third album Muhammed.
