I'm also surprised by the lack of comments, articles, etc about this song. Maybe because it was tied to the Bicentennial Man movie it was brushed off as just a movie song. I've always really loved this song for reasons I can't really explain. (other than just being a hopeless romantic) And every time I get it stuck in my head, it stays there for days. I've always considered this song as being sung from Andrew's point of view. And it goes back to the conversation he has with Portia when she says that she's not always going to take his DNA elixers or have all her body parts replaced. And he says that there's just one problem: He can't imagine life without her. Here's a machine that could live forever & was searching worldwide for a place to belong (or more specifically for his heart to belong) And it wasn't until after that search that he finally found that place in Portia & their love relationship. And how he only really came alive after he fell in love with her. |
