| @[Asunder:52163] Oh man, you wouldn't even believe how perfectly close you described what this song is to me. Being caught by all the thoughts with your defenses down, the ticking of the clock, the realization that you may be part of the “disease” and not the “cure”, the desperate desire to go “home”, and the understanding that you cannot step into the same river twice. | |

I always loved that song for the melody and just as a nice and catchy ear-pleaser. But nowadays its lyrics resonate too close to my heart, and it hits like a freight train every time I hear it. Now for me, it's definitely about lost opportunities and a sort of despair from realizing that it's completely your fault: The lights go out, and I can't be saved Tides that I tried to swim against Have brought me down upon my knees Oh, I beg, I beg and plead, singin' It's nothing really original, just a story as old as the world. I was with a perfect person, a true soulmate, but I didn't cherish that enough. I was too foolish, made some mistakes, and blew it all. Now there is too much time and distance between us, as we live in different parts of the world. I naively thought that I could find someone like that again, but: And nothin' else compares Oh, nothin' else compares And nothin' else compares |
