Florence + the Machine – Dog Days Are Over Lyrics 1 year ago
I believe this song is about the false promises of radical feminism and the tragic reality of how such ideologies have destroyed societies both past and present.

“Happiness, hit her like a train on a track”

Getting hit by a train is not fun. It doesn’t make you happy and will most likely kill you.

“Coming towards her, stuck still no turning back”

Many women invested in radical feminist ideologies often feel bound to their belief system and feel there is little room for deviation.

“She hid around corners and she hid under beds
She killed it with kisses and from it she fled
With every bubble she sank with a drink
And washed it away down the kitchen sink”

Radical feminism promotes sexual liberation and extreme independence. Often times this translates to single women living along in cities and engaging in lots of partying and drinking. As many older folks know, this can lead many astray . . . and alone.

“The dog days are over
The dog days are done
The horses are coming so you better run”

The Dog Days are often associated with strife, madness, excess, and destruction. The horses are the stronger civilizations that have not allowed radical feminism to take root. These societies will by default be stronger and will dominate any society that allows itself to be ripped apart by a postmodern ideology designed to deconstruct.

“Run fast for your mother run fast for your father
Run for your children for your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and your longing behind you
Can't carry it with you if you want to survive”

The dissolution of families through divorce will destroy the cohesiveness of society. Throughout the 80’s, 90’s, 10’s it was heavily promoted that women should leave their homes and become independent.

“And I never wanted anything from you
Except everything you had
And what was left after that too, oh”

It was strongly suggested in the media that women could “have it all”.

“Happiness hit her like a bullet in the back
Struck from a great height
By some man who should know better than that”

Feminism was promoted by the ruling class to weaken the middle class and subjugate the working class.

“The horses are coming
So you better run”

As we will learn in the near future, once you deconstruct your society, it is a painful process to build it back up again. The Dog Days are now over, but the horses are now surrounding us, so you better run.
