I think this song is about dealing with grief or intense loss. The subject has gone away for a retreat to gather themselves, but all they found was cold and disappointing people, and instead of comfort in isolation have become existentially depressed and feel like ending it. A normal human emotion most people will go through at some point in their lives. A beautiful song, I find it comforting. I was shocked when I heard it. Loved it so much I learnt to play it on guitar. |
