| A friend had an interesting take on this song. He took the line “the dust that Poncho bit down south ended up in Lefty’s mouth” to mean they were gay. So it was a betrayal on two levels, breaking the out law code layered on top of betraying your lover. I go with that interpretation and think it is one of the best songs ever written. | |
