Great song. I remember seeing them at the barrowlands on Tuesday night when the first album was out probably about 2000 and they were wee geeks, but the first album was incredible, lyrically and musically . Probably the charlatans best tune lyrically. Starts of mellow and builds to a beautiful chorus. TB in his element here. Song is about staring over again, being a new person coming out of a relationship in a good way which most songs don’t talk about. Hats off to the writing in this one. Belter |

As rock and roll as the charlatans get. Epic from start to finish. The lyrics are just about being a winner or champion or taking a massive line of charlie whatever . But great tune I could play on the guitar at 3am so sample chords as all the best rock tunes are. The charlatans really are the most diverse band of that era . Listen too sproston then impossible then this. They love to change it up |

At the end of the day as a boy growing up in Scotland the early 90s it just rung true. It was very grey and bleak. We all fantasised about a better life and there plenty of burnt out cars, and the streets were lonely, the chorus nailed it
The song might have more clever meanings but to us it was a perfect song about hope and getting out of this dire place that we lived. |
