GOD I LOVE THIS SONG!!! the breathy voices, singing together when they’re talking about their similarities and desires, and apart when highlighting the contrasts of their relationship roles is genius but at the same time, they both fit together somehow: bitter & sweet, paintbrush & paper, trick & treat. despite their differences though the song clearly shows they’re still crazy about each other ‘read the fine print later’ shows the desperation between the two of them and the fact they can’t wait any longer to begin to spot the potential warning signs of the other person |

the fact that people have commented like 16 years ago makes me so happy because i only found this song a few days ago and it has become my absolute favourite!! her voice is absolutely GORGEOUS for one, and two, incredibly sexy. as for interpretations, i think this song starts with her sort of asking someone to try something new ‘if you give it a try’, trust her ‘i know you won’t be sorry’ and ultimately have sex with her ‘let me bend your mind’ ‘just give up your body’. i also think it is about pure desire between two people. the lyrics, ‘your mouth my rosary’ insinuates to me that kissing them is similar to praying, ultimately making sexuality into something ritualistic and beyond things of our understanding. i think the enthusiasm on ‘ride, sweet smelling ride’ and ‘wide, spread so wide’ really makes the song so sultry as a vague lyric can be turned into the focal point alongside ‘surrender to debauchery’, which reminds of the starting lyrics ‘if you give it a try’ that she is trying to influence someone to give into their desires towards her. to top it off, ‘minds are bending happy ending silver lining’ at the very end of the song implies the peak of sex and what comes after overall, from start to finish this song does not lack passion whatsoever it is simply a masterpiece with the lyrics, the vocals and the awesome guitar in the back |
