I believe the line “i’m a real straight shooter if you know what i mean” was meant to be a vague threat, like ‘don’t let me catch you with someone else or i’ll shoot em’ The line “baby what you’re holding, half of that belongs to me” obviously refers to some kind of drug, but that’s appropriate following the “just get me high” verse. I’m pretty sure that’s the only part of the song referring to drugs. While there are obviously MANY songs out there referring to drug use and getting high, i think once people find out an artist uses drugs they believe it’s the subject matter of ALL their work when, more often than not, it’s just a footnote. |
