“The birds & the bees” being the talk we get about love, and the making of it, when we’re old enough to warrant an explanation. So the house in your heart for the bird, and the bonnet over your brain for the bee, I think he’s talking about committing to just this one love. Love itself, for that to be your only true love, and he’s asking you to make a dwelling place within you for it to live. The verbal back-and-forth contradictory lines at the beginning might be more a reflection of us than the speaker, how we can be so inconsistent and hypocritical. But the night-light watching over you, the light in the darkness, this is singular, simple, and unchanging. Letting that shine from within you is what’s advised in this song. |

@[gallerypiecee:52941] they say “when you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.” I’d go further and say “when you love your boss and all the things he’s pushing you to do, constantly, and love his style in the workplace, and agree with his ‘soul-birdhouse-building’ one-track mind obsession, and that it should be done nonstop, and that it’s all that should be done, forever, and that nothing could be more enjoyable than that existence, doing what you love most, with who you love most, in this weird sort of ‘soul-furniture’ custom design warehouse - - - you never work a day in your life.” You didn’t ask but that’s what I’d say. Someday. |

@[abraxas365:52204] I like your comment, but I believe it’s present tense, “I use my state of the art technology” in those lines, not past tense “used.” But I could be wrong. |
