This is just my personal take but I don't think this song is about suicide, not intentional at least. I think it's about a NDE (Near Death Experience). The guy is definitely in the hospital, maybe in a coma, maybe not. I don't think he deliberately killed himself but his negligence got him there (overdose, car accident because he was wasted, cardiac arrest from years of neglect, who knows). In any event, the real "coma" the song is talking about is the way he has lived his life up to this point. The painkillers make him feel like he's in a sea of black and drifting away which feels nice. But at the same time he's "climbing through the wreckage of all his twisted dreams" and realizing he never wanted to live. He meets someone during his NDE who tells him "I wish I could help you but I'm watching reruns of my life". It's not uncommon for people during NDEs to have such experiences. He's gets told that he always had ample warnings and subtle signs for him to know that his "one way ticket" was coming, so he could change his ways. But he never did. He lived his life like it's a coma and anything he could say to justify himself is kinda hard to believe. |

@[Cryharderplz:51812] you're basically ignoring every point that @[Jackmerkev:51813] made about the actual lyrics and you're resorting to Ad Hominem remarks about Trent and how he credited The Village People. As a literate person you should know Ad Hominem arguments are pretty weak, not to mention your own political inclinations are showing, which is fine but it makes your whole argument even weaker because you're obviously biased. And you have the nerve to tell him to read a book, go figure. |
