This song is pretty easy to interpret, it’s quite literal but very prosaic at the same time. I believe there are two people talking at one time, it’s actually a dialogue, despite being sung by one voice. Someone declaring their love to the other, and the other reciprocating. Everything in this could easily be a wedding vow or a proposal.. but most likely it’s just someone declaring their most sincere feelings to the other to push the „relationship“ a step further. I think it’s about two people who met under the most unusual circumstances. None of them expected to fall in love .. „I didn't know how lost I was till I found you I never knew what it meant to feel someone“ It’s about two people, who used to have a hard time to commit to anyone before. They always chose independence, until now.. “Your love rocks freedom suck” I don’t know why he doesn’t sing “freedom sucks” .. maybe freedom suck is also a sexual innuendo. It started as something super casual at first. Maybe a one-night stand or a client meeting an escort.. „Underneath an image of love I found you At the unawareness of lust I found you“ This part makes me believe it’s a client/escort situation. „Image of love“ = fake love „Unawareness of lust“ = a purely sexual situation These people might’ve met in a “fake” dating situation. A client booked an escort to spend time with. In this unreal situation, both suddenly feel a genuine connection. He continues to book her again until both finally realize it’s not sustainable to go on like this, it’s too real! So there’s a choice to be made, which isn’t easy for both parties. Will she continue working or will she quit for him? It’s also hard for him, it’s not an ideal situation obviously. I think he lets her go at one point, but then comes back again, after he sorted out his feelings.
