This song is straight forward, but you need to sing it to understand the duality. Some of the lyrics are contradictory for a reason. For a moment just forget about religion. It's simply an inner monologue kind of conversation between a son and his late father. If you read the lyrics sentence by sentence you can attribute half the sentences to the father and and half to the son. Even the chorus. Verse explains some situation. The father is expects sorrow, the son expects sorrow no more, both based on the same situation. Go back to the first verse and it's explicitly clear what just happened. |
