John played on cynicism a lot, personally I'm a pessimist, which at first seems like a bad thing, until you look at it from another angle, my glass is ONLY half empty. Basically pessimists, think that everything is going to turn out bad and are not surprised if it does, so we are rarely phased, when our fave football team loses or some plans go awry. Optimists are forever disappointed, when things go wrong, so surely have a more miserable life. I am forever thinking, this is never going to work and when it does, I am very happy. Trouble is if too many thing go right you end up being an optimist, and there danger lies, waiting to pounce on your happiness. Pessimists are really just realists, have you seen what is going on in the world today? I've had two strokes and lost a few of my faculties, but the best thing I lost was the ability to worry, whats the point of worry, if you can do something about the thing you are worried about, do it. And if you can't, just push on through and live with what's coming. | |

Short and sweet on this, massive Beatles fan born in 1966, the year "Revolver" came out. This and "Working Class Hero" (B-Side of "Imagine) are two of the most powerful songs Lennon wrote. He sings them both with such pent up anger. You can hear the pain in this and the anger/disappointment in "Working Class Hero" They hurt you at home and they hit you at school They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool 'Til you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules |

@[Emily859:51158] Hmmm, right now I'm sat on my own after my girlfriend left, I was under her thumb, she is a narcissist and denies having said things to me and accuses me of losing her stuff, tells her family that I am a sh*t. I have never been treated like this before. I have known this song for many years but recently it has had some bad press. I re-listened to it and made my mind up, it feels very personal to me. I am stuck in the song at the end of verse one. She is apparently coming back, the reason she left is because I caught her out. She accused me of doing something I didn't do and then denied accusing me. My masterstroke was that I was dictating to my Mac computer at the time, I was in the bedroom and she was shouting from the lounge. It has happened many times before but I thought, this time I've got her, went back to my dictation and it was still running, I played it back to her. Imagine my surprise when she still denied it, she got very angry and stormed out, well I say stormed out, she spent about an hour on the phone to her son saying I was mentally unstable and shouting at her, which, according to the recording, I was speaking in a calm and measured tone. One she had finished speaking to one son she called his bother and asked him to pick her up and take her away, then proceeded to take all the pictures off the walls, collect some of her clothes in a bag and a few ornaments, which she left on the floor in the lounge. One thing I don't do is worry, if she comes back, I will probably not get an apology, as in the 14years we have been together, she hasn't apologised once. If she breaks a glass or drops something it'd my fault for distracting her. If I break or lose something then its my fault. If I make any noise during the day she says, something like "I have had to pause this programme (TV) ten times now!" However if she interrupts me, she gets annoyed at me just hovering my thumb on the pause button and not giving her my undivided attention. Sincere apologies for using this forum to get some kind of therapy but it feels good to get it out of my system, She actually left on the second anniversary of my sisters death. I am pretty sure it wasn't on purpose but hey ho. Any moderators want to remove this, feel free. I'll just carry on stuck at the end of verse one, as I will not stoop to the level of the male protagonist in the song. |

| @[adamanteve:51155] It was the first song I ever heard by her, now I have whole lot of albums, and that line is just so amazing, funny, true too, Ms Spektor, no relation to Phil (I hope) is the best thing/person to come out of Russia since Vodka, and that's saying something! It's one of those songs that is easy to imagine a music video for. Though I imagine her being on a sun lounger under a parasol. | |

| It is from the only decent album they put out, they are constantly being criticised for churning out rubbish by the popular press. The one redeeming thing is Martins' vocal ability. I have also heard that he shares all the money that the band makes equally. I bet George and Ringo (the two lowest paid Beatles Ringo getting the least, but at least he had a funky name, for the time anyway). | |

Or maybe it's just a meaningless pop song, I like it anyway, just concerned as the band have been hyped to the moon on one album, is there even going to be a second? |
