| I see it as someone choosing to ignore the fact that their partner cheated on them because it’s too much to handle. “Isn’t one enough?” “Beggin’ to understand” Like why am I not enough for you? But I’m going to ignore it because it’s too much to “focus on” and she still wants to be with him. She can handle his other flaws, but not this one, so she’s trying to take a “second plan.” She’s giving up everything to still be with this person. But I also see it from the other partner’s perspective. He’s trying to understand why she’s not enough for him and how other more “selfless” men stay faithful while he can’t? He knows she’s giving up everything and chose to stay with him. He knows he has a lot of flaws, but this is a flaw he isn’t ready to fix. He won’t face it and he’s trying to figure out what to do, a new “plan.” I think that’s the beauty of having just the two of them singing it together. | |
