Actually, I believe this song predated the Beatles trip to India by almost 3-years. The song was recorded in December 1965 but wasn't released until the summer of 1966. So, the song was actually written for his love interest at the time Linda Lawrence, who also remains his wife to this day. Linda Lawrence btw was in relationships with Brian Jones, of Rolling Stones fame & Gram Parsons, of The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers. |
