Local H – Bound For The Floor Lyrics 1 year ago
I think this song can have many interpretations but we can all agree on is the songs main vibe is what it's called bound for the floor. Definitely a song about dealing with depression, failure, and disappointment. I grew up in a house with drugs and alcohol so it always takes me back to those dark days too too although idk if that's what the artists were going for. It's because growing up like that you didn't really have a path in life or any direction and everything around you including your own parents brought u down in life. It really seemed like that's the best it would ever get and I was bound for the floor but I do know differently now just took me along time and glad I didn't let pressure turn me into what I was surrounded by.
Anyways I just wanted to break down the song of what I think it could mean to the artists.
"Born to be down, I've learned all my lessons before now"
This again could have so many meanings but what is clear is that he had tried to be better many times in the past and overcome his troubles only to end up on the floor once again.
"Born to be down, I think you'll get used to it"
This to me I interpret as a person defeated and so much so that they don't even wanna try again but it's not necessarily depression it's just sadness and defeat like this is it but I think I'll get used to it. However he does say I think YOULL get used to it so this could possibly be a different persona talking or it could be him on the outside talking to himself and trying to cope trying to reason and deal with the fact it won't get better or at least he doesn't think it will so he's saying I think you'll get used to it man.

Now the chorus is where my interpretation is torn because there's two ways in my opinion it may have meaning.
"And you just don't get it
You keep it copasetic
And you learn to accept
And you know your so pathetic"

Ok so this could be him expressing his anger to someone else or it could again be him talking to himself again or even a different persona talking to him so here's my three theories for the chorus.

1. This could be him expressing anger to someone else. So he may be telling someone else you just don't get it like u don't get my life "u keep it copasetic" copasetic is usually used to describe someone who lives on (easy street) so maybe they are well off and wouldn't understand or maybe they are like him except delusional of their own life and he's like u just don't get how deep this runs like we're never getting out of here and u just sit there like nothings wrong. "You learn to accept, and you know its so pathetic" the person he is talking to has accepted this lifeeven knowing that it's like this and your going nowhere and that's pathetic like try harder what the h are you doing.

Now before 2 just remember in the chorus he repeats "and you don't" A LOT so that to me I interpret and you don't do anything about this because he leaves it blank there's so many things u don't do that it is hard to pinpoint but basically meaning to me you don't do anything about this and that's sad.

2. Same as above but again him talking to himself angry at himself for not trying and giving up.
3. Again the same but a different persona talking to him

Ik the last two are the same but as far as meaning they can reach give a unique feel so really it's however the listener interprets it. It fits alot of people story maybe not literally but in a sad sense we can all relate somehow and I think that's why the song did so well.

The intensity builds up to him screaming at the end that to me shows he is angry it starts off lower giving a more sad vibe then leading into anger and at the very end one more last and you don't! And then couple more riffs really a perfect way to end this song its a classic masterpiece to me I'll always love this song helped me out alot in my life.
