They wrote this song about a friend of theirs that OD'd. It was written specifically about Andrew Wood, the lead singer for Mother Love Bone. Jerry Cantell said this about the song:
"I was thinking a lot about Andrew Wood at the time. We always had a great time when we did hang out, much like Chris (Cornell) and I do. There was never really a serious moment or conversation, it was all fun. Andy was a hilarious guy, full of life and it was really sad to lose him. But I always hate people who judge decisions others make. So it was also directed towards people who pass judgements." |

The story is about Mark coming off tour and called up a friend to get an ex-girlfriend's number so he could catch up with her. His friend told him that she had died. This song is written about her.
I had a GF killed in a car accident and shortly after I heard about it, this song came up. It helped immensely.
