Maybe I'm missing something here. But I have never picked up cynicism or sarcasm in S.D.'s work. For example, in this song the marrying of a "California Beach / Boogie Woogie" style with an Eastern philosophical concept is straightforward satire to me. Sort of like the tongue in cheek humor of THE FAR SIDE or THE CHURCH OF THE SUBGENIUS... |
