So this interpretation comes from a guy who heard this song on tiktok and hasn't got any clue who Kavinsky is and doesnt know any of his other work. I'll go straight to the point. I think the lyrics are about a person that cant sleep in the night because their mind is racing with negative thoughts. Lyrics are written from the perspective of the mind as if it talks to the person. Lyrics: I'm giving you a night call to tell you how I feel (the mind wants to have a chat about how it feels towards you - we all been there! just lying in bed wide-eyed in anxiety..) I want to drive you through the night, down the hills (it wants to ride you all night with the pleasant thoughts of your worst insecurities and fears and its only downhill from here on) I'm gonna tell you something you don't want to hear (again.. it bombards you with negative thoughts) I'm gonna show you where it's dark, but have no fear (the mind pulls you into the "darkness" of overthinking and self harming thought and then the lady explains...) There something inside you (as in the mind inside your head) It's hard to explain They're talking about you boy (the mind always yapps about you and how bad you are) But you're still the same (in the end nothing of that is true, its only the perspective of your minds made-up stories. so have no fear and don't believe the false reality of the mind) I like to believe that this is the simple meaning of the song to which we all can probably relate to. |
