@Madprophet As far as I know, it wasn't that the songs were US-oriented, but that the band were planning to leave the UK to try to 'break' America. This often led to bands losing their core UK fans as they chased US-fans, or worse, for musical styles to change to try to find what the audience wanted. So the loyal UK-fans feared the band 'selling out', deserting its roots (including its 'Englishness') or failing altogether and imploding. |
