My personal interpretation is that this is a song about about a sentimental breakup, that is being dumped. I think the lyrics are written and sung by the perspective of the guy dumped by his now-ex girlfriend, and expressing his sarcastic bitterness about her decision. More in detail: > And I move slow, > Just slow enough to make you uncomfortable Perhaps when they were still together she used to say that she disliked when he was moving slow. > You say I hate you, you mean it > And I love you sounds fake > It's taken me so long to figure that out > I used to love the taste, I would do anything for it > Now I would do anything to get the taste out of my mouth Here he recaps her confusion about her feelings for him > And you're so confident, > But I hear you crying in your sleeping bag Here he's sarcastic about her being "so confident" on her decisions. > But you were broken bad yourself > And you were mad as hell, you felt > If you had done anything with anyone else > It would have worked out so well Here he throws back sarcastically some of her statements when she used to say that he was a problem > But you are an artist > And your mind don't work the way you want it to Here he sarcastically remembers to her that she is an artist > One day you'll be washing yourself with hand soap in a public bathroom > And you'll be thinking, how did I get here? > Where the hell am I? > If the roles were reveresed, you could have seen me sneaking up > Sneaking up from behind This is the main part that makes me think this song is about a breakup: I think the singer is envisioning a situation where she is washing her hands in a dirty public bathroom and all of a sudden she regrets the decision of the breakup. Him seaking up from behind is the imagination of the ex girlfriend understanding that the story is really over. |
