| @[CrossbowProphecy:50040] There's no David Bowie nor is there any Pink Floyd on the soundtrack to "The Man Who Fell To Earth" | |

This is indeed a sexy song, but on hearing this song I often think it is about drugs, in particular, cocaine. Whatever the situation, whether working, socialising, or making love, he has got to use her, every time. She's pulled him through some tight spots, but still, he takes her, he can't help it. Bearing in mind he eventually had to run away to Berlin to avoid cocaine addiction, this is what I think this song is about. |

In my opinion, this song is about the situation that Bowie was having with his estranged wife at the time that he moved to Berlin. They didn't get along anymore, Bowie was drinking a lot and living the life of a single man. They still loved each other, but it was impossible for them to stay together, both having different forces affecting their lives - his wife looking after their son, Bowie following his career which was incompatible with the family life his wife longed for. I think this song is about him trying to convince her to put on a brave face for some event or function where they will have to be together for a day and to give the impression to those present that they were still a couple, to behave amicably, and to be heroes, just for a day. He is urging her to accept their faults and default roles in their relationship, she can be mean, and he will drink all the time they are together (perhaps it is his way of dealing with her meanness). Perhaps, during this day of heroism, they realise why they loved each other, and are reminded of the initial attraction and secretive moments of their courtship and during the writing of this song, Bowie, seeing Visconte kissing the woman by the wall, was reminded of it. |
