Ric Ocasek said that he wrote this song not from personal experience but he just figured that it had to have happened to someone.
After he wrote this song he realized that it didn't have the title of the song in it so off to the side he wrote it and added "And she used to be mine" He said that up until that point most people thought it was the other way around - that the girl was his and used to be his friend's. |
