| Carnivore – World Wars III and IV Lyrics | 3 months ago |
| It's probably based on Einstein's quote "I do not know what weapons will be used to fight World War III, but World War IV will be fought with stones and clubs." | |
| Black Sabbath – St. Vitus Dance Lyrics | 4 months ago |
| Lyrics are self-explanatory (relationship trouble), but much like A National Acrobat the song title and lyrics have no clear correlation (outside of perhaps an inside joke by the band). | |
| Carnivore – God Is Dead Lyrics | 6 months ago |
| This song is not anti-Christian as one might think. It's quite the opposite actually and is about how Peter Steele believed humanity is terrible and totally undeserving of God's love. He's speaking from the perspective of God and saying that if he were God, he would kill himself after seeing all the disrespect his creations show him. It's far from what more extreme Christians would deem appropriate but the intention behind it is actually not anti-God or even anti-religion. It's anti-humanity, which is very on brand for Peter Steele ("We Hate Everyone"). | |
| Carnivore – Male Supremacy Lyrics | 10 months ago |
| This song is meant to be ironic. Peter Steele said many times that he believed men were inferior to women and he's quoted as saying "the sole purpose of man in this world is to serve women." The whole song is a barbarian story, and the middle section reveals the true meaning "woman it's true / I do battle for you /you're my everything". It's actually meant to be ironic and about essentially the opposite of what the title and chorus suggests. | |
| Carnivore – Jesus Hitler Lyrics | 10 months ago |
| This song is about an absurd and impossible fictional scenario. Like what if Jesus and Hitler were reincarnated into the same body? It's meant to be funny and interesting. | |

| It sucks how relatable this is... | |
| Carnivore – Angry Neurotic Catholics Lyrics | 1 year ago |
| This song , as Peter stated, is not anti-Christian, but against organized religion and people deciding what's a sin, and "speaking on behalf God" when really they are speaking on behalf of themselves. | |
| Type O Negative – Der Untermensch Lyrics | 1 year ago |

This song is very hard to properly understand for someone not from Brooklyn or New York in the late 80s and early 90s. In an interview from about 15 years after this song was released, this is what Pete had to say. I think we could all benefit to read this. "Der Untermensch" was about when I was working for the Parks Department, this white guy working in black neighborhoods, and having bottles thrown at me and being screamed at like, "Fuck you, Tarzan!" Meanwhile, the guys yelling at me were selling drugs to little kids. So, yeah, the song was provocative, and it was supposed to be. [...] I was baiting the hook, just like when Carnivore. [...] I have to admit, I was ignorant. [...] I made a mistake, and I do apologize." |

| Type O Negative – 3.O.I.F. Lyrics | 1 year ago |
| It's a well-hidden Beatles reference. The story behind this song (as well as Machine Screw, Fay Wray Come Out and Play, and Dark Side of the Womb) is that Josh Silver made a bunch of fun soundscape tracks while they were recording Bloody Kisses, and Peter loved them and said f*** it, let's put them on the album. This one in particular is referencing the "Paul is Dead" controversy. On the Abbey Road album cover the car license plate said 28IF, as in "Paul would be '28 if' he didn't die". This is changed to "Peter is dead", and he would have been "30 if" he didn't, and his cause of death is the motorcycle accident we hear in this soundscape. | |
| Type O Negative – In Praise Of Bacchus Lyrics | 1 year ago |

I already gave my 2 cents on this song but lately I have been haunted by how beautiful yet simultaneously heavy this song is. I feel the need to give a more in-depth analysis of the lyrics. Hey Bacchus She hates me Pretty simple, he's reflecting on a failed relationship while drinking wine. As Type O fans, we pretty much all know this. The street lamps light a wet old red hook road A furry vino tinted slave Molten oil painted brooklyn bridge (Cobblestone grave) Peter was raised in Red Hook. On October 15, 1989 he returned to his childhood home on a rainy night after a girl broke his heart. He was drunk off red wine (and he said that being drunk reminded him of having kittens in his stomach, hence "furry vino tinted slave"). It was rainy so his view of the Brooklyn bridge looked like an oil painting. And it's a grave because he attempted suicide there on that night. A lonely blue girl guards the river bed She shakes her brown torch at the tide On pier six we'd creep and count the cracks (side by side, see, we're counting cracks) The Statue of Liberty is visible from Pier 6 in Red Hook, NYC. The blue girl with a torch seems to refer to this statue. He is now reflecting on when he use to walk the pier with the girl who he broke up with. Your mom was out wearing herself inside I'll stop the train to say hello A used boyfriend's just bought her this new car (I said I know) This line is seemingly confusing and out of place, but if we say that this is about something that happened earlier in the night, it makes more sense. The last two lines are actually dialogue between the protagonist of the song and his ex-girlfriend's mother. She tells him that the girls boyfriend just bought her a new car, and he tells her that he knows. Also, the words new and used seem like they should be swapped, so the fact that they are used in this way reversed is definitely significant and poetic. She said burn Together Burn We'll burn together Now he's reflecting on what she said before. Funeral pyres and burning together are a common occurrence in Type O songs, particularly on October Rust. Now don't believe she'll never leave again I can't forget the words she said way back when At this part of the song we hear the same keyboard (or maybe guitar I can't really tell because of the effects) play the same part as the ending of "Love You to Death". Definitely intentional. This song is essentially the reverse of "Love You to Death," being about a negative relationship and attempted suicide. She said burn We'll burn together |

| Type O Negative – Der Untermensch Lyrics | 1 year ago |
| When discussing this song important to keep in mind that Slow, Deep, and Hard is a concept album about a man spiraling through hatred. For example take the next song on the album, Xero Tolerance "Hatred obsessing me / Hatred possessing me", and in Gravitational Constant "I've got a problem / A problem with hate / I can't go on dragging this weight". Although these lyrics are crossing the line, I'd like to believe that they are sung from the perspective of a character and that they don't reflect the real views of the band. I really do like this song because of how good that opening riff is with the industrial percussion. But the lyrics are undoubtedly defamatory, though likely satirical. | |

| Peter said in an interview that this song is about the night he tried to kill himself over an ex-girlfriend (the same one that Black No. 1 is about, if I remember correctly). It was raining that night and he was looking out at the Brooklyn Bridge when he slashed his wrists, and he recalled that it looked like an oil painting because of all the rain. | |
| Type O Negative – Christian Woman Lyrics | 1 year ago |
| Peter explained this a bit in interviews. It's about a girl he use to date who was a strict Roman Catholic. But she had a sexual relationship with her religion, even asking him to dress as a priest during sex. The lyrics basically change this slightly to be about a woman wanting to have sex with Jesus, or God, and it's sung from the perspective of a man who is pretending to be Jesus to please her. | |
| Type O Negative – The Glorious Liberation of the People's Technocratic Republic of Vinnland by the Combined Forces of the United Territories of Europa Lyrics | 1 year ago |
| Vinnland is a fake country Peter Steele invented. It's named after the Viking colony in North America from the 1000s (it's also where the name of the green and black cross flag comes from). Steele himself was of partial Norwegian/Icelandic heritage and very interested in the culture of the Nordic countries. This song is meant to be a national anthem for Vinnland. | |
