I think it's right that this is about Scottish Culture. It's like the catch-22, Scotland has always been a progressive country and part of its culture is changing, Scotland can only be who it is by continuing to change. You could certainly interpret a progressive relationship with someone in the same way, if you're constantly trying to better each other there is always room for change, even if you love each other for who you already are. |
