This is one of my favorite songs and although I've had similar experiences this song really relates more with my son and his girlfriend, it was young love they met when they were 13 and 14 in middle school, it was a great romance and then all of a sudden she broke up with him without giving him a clear reason, they still talk to each other now that they're 17 and 18, I always picture her saying those words to my son "don't answer me" "don't break the silence don't let me win" "don't answer me stay on your island don't let me in" "run away and hide from everyone" "can't we change the things we've said and done" I think she's trying to fix things but doesn't really know how, my son is stubborn and doesn't want to get hurt again, at my age I would give almost anything to experience young love again. |

This song always reminds me of my ex-girlfriend, we had an on going relationship for 7 years, I knew she was married when we started but always hoped she would divorce her husband, by the time I realized 7 years had gone by, I eventually ended our relationship and it hurt her badly, a lot of the phrases in this song reminds me of what we were going through. |

This song has nothing to do with his girlfriend, it's his car that's telling him don't worry baby, he never mentions his girlfriend he just says she, 90% of car guys refer to their cars as she, he says "she makes me come alive" "she makes me wanna drive" this is a song about the love between him and his car. |

This song held a lot of meaning too me after a breakup with my co-worker/girlfriend, we were both married and it was becoming very strenuous, not being able to be together and relying on only scarce moments with each other finally tore us apart, the worse part was having to work with her and not being able to be together as we once were, eventually a year after we talked again but it was never the same, in so many lyrics of this song I could express what was going through my head each day working close by her and not being able to be with her. |
