My name is Martha. Somehow I managed to make it to the age of 44 without ever having heard this song. It's been many years since then, and I never get tired of hearing Tom Waits sing it... nor any of the songs on "Closing Time." Rarely does a day pass without my listening to the album and feeling Tom Waits' voice weaving its way around and through my soul. He makes me nostalgic for both things that once were and things that maybe I wish had been. |
