I don’t think about puppets when I hear this song. Altho it being an upbeat song it’s very sad. This will be a common song choice for your ex if they have an avoidant attachment style. They will use this song to try to convince themselves they did the right thing by running away and that it is making them happier. Avoidants feel very triggered about loosing their independence whey they feel either obligated to someone else and feel burdened when the see that their actions have hurt someone they care about. Being alone, away from a partner who triggers your insecurities is the easy more selfish option rather than being emotional mature and working through your issues by communicating your feelings and looking at yourself to improve. Having no strings doesn’t mean your better off, it just means you have nobody to help you face your trauma. They will do anything they can think of to avoid it. People ultimately all want to be connected to someone especially fearful avoidants who have a very deep longing for intimacy yet have a visceral reaction to the fear of being loosing their independence and being vulnerable. |

That this persons played a critical role in the narrators emotional well-being. The thought of this lost connection is leaving the narrator grappling with feelings of loneliness and longing. “things which occur when you balance on the edge of a knife” Expresses the delicate balance and fragility of emotional connections. A desire for attention and validation a strong longing for intimacy. it also emphasizes that it’s not about where you are, but where you feel you should be and where your heart is. It suggest that a sense of belonging is not about physical location but an internal sense of belonging where your significant other is. |

However it conveys a sense of hope that he is headed the right way and they will be reunited eventually. “I’ve got silence on the radio, let the airwaves flow” portrays the feeling of not being in contact and being out of sync with each other but wanting to resume communication. That nothing is exciting and no one else he cares about. That he is just merely existing and counting the days until they can be together. That as crazy at things get, having the one person who makes sense ultimately makes everything okay. “Just another mad, mad day on the road.
