The speaker is a Pipefitter working in the city building high rises. His time spent on the hillside reminds him of a lost connection to nature and to life. "Pipe fittings not living." He commits himself to maintaining the connection and building a home in the woods. I came across this band looking into the roots of the 90s Seattle music scene. This song resonated deeply withe me but I couldn't make any words out. When I read the lyrics it was obvious. I'm a union electrician who builds "epic structures" in the cities. I've been longing to get back to nature. Mountains like I grew up in. It speaks to the lives we waste pursuing materialism. Thank you to the band. |
