@[foronecomment:49291] That is the point. We all know the story. It was cleverly used to give the song depth and clear understanding as well as adapted to suit the situation in the film. It isn't done to tell the actual story only for them to get it wrong. That should be obvious. But the fact you needed to not only point out that it is different as well as then explain to us the original story as if none of us knew it is incredibly arrogant. As if you are assuming everyone including the artists don't know the difference to the original story and we are all just listening to it completely unaware and ignorant of any of the point or meaning. You are basically telling everyone that the whole meaning and understanding has completely gone over everyones heads the way it has over yours and that your answer is some kind of sudden revelation to us all that actually means nothing. |

Abraham took Isaac's hand and led him to the lonesome hill. (This is Abraham acting as the reaping, in effect, removing someone from their home to take them to a fatal situation) While his daughter hid and watched, She dare not breathe, she was so still. (This would imply Katniss as the daughter over all but also the general population never stopping the games or uprising in time to actually stop the tributes being taken) Just as an angel cried for the slaughter, Abraham's daughter raised her voice (Angel here would be Snow basically saying to continue on from the reaping as expected, send the tributes and carry it out. With Katniss then, as the daughter, announcing herself in protest) Then the angel asked her what her name was, She said, "I have none." Then he asked, "How can this be?" "My father never gave me one." (This is more to the story than anything else, but also basically makes the point of Snow recognising Katniss as the one who has risen in protest and the concept of having no name shows the difference in their status. Snow is the establishment, the capitol. Katniss is no one and doesn't have to be in order to defy him) And with his sword up, raised for the slaughter, Abraham's daughter raised her bow. "How darest you, child, defy your father?" "You better let young Isaac go." (Despite Katniss defiance, Snow intends for things to go ahead as always and will suffer no challenge to it. This is then when the nameless daughter (Katniss) raises her bow and officially takes her stand and makes her position clear. Then as The Angel (Snow) basically makes clear his threats to her and implies a consequence, the nameless daughter (Katniss) does not concede to the implication and instead keeps her bow raised AND makes her demand. LET ISAAC GO. Showing Katniss has not only refused to back down but also escalated it further by making a demand too. The song leaves off with this stand off. The positions are clear, the intentions obvious and neither side backing down. Establishing Snow's clear intention and need to deal with Katniss as a recognised threat to the prior established situation and Katniss as the figure of the possible rebellion.) |

| @[soonerbob:49290] As much as I hate to rain on any theories parades, this one is terrible and no one would want to consider it. Especially with this song or the traditional story, even though a daughter wasn't in it the concept could still work with Abrahams other son Ishmael. But either way, my point is that the idea is over done to death, to easy and obvious and therefore due to both points, incredibly boring. I don't hope to deter you from thinking of alternatives or by any means stop your imagination. Far from. But where this is concerned the song would lose alot of impact or meaning from this and where the idea is concerned full stop it is just as my previous points were. That type of plot is the most obvious and always over done route. | |
